Posted the following to Hellenic Recons, Hellenic Pagan and Hercules Invictus (all Yahoo groups) and might post to a few religious livejournals too. Figured I'd share with you. Btw, did any of you learn Greek mythology in school?
"Geia sas,
I just wanted to share some wonderful news with all of you. Mom saw this on Good Morning America this morning. Unfortunately, this link only contains the text.

What they don't say here is that the students compete against one another through writing. If their poem/s to The Gods are judged to be good enough, they're allowed to paint. Note that this isn't a Greek school. it's a regular school with students of all nationalities. I think this is amazing and really gives hope for generations to come. Who knows? Maybe, some of these kids will become Hellenic Polytheists one day. At the very least, they'll walk away with a greater appreciation and knowledge of culture. So what do you think about this?
Enjoy,
Tiffanitsa"
In my english class, my teacher did read us some greek mythology. I really liked some of the stories.
Ooh! That is indeed awesome! I wonder if it'll catch on?
Yeah, I got a heap of greek mythology in highschool, but I took Ancient History, so that's not so surprising. I'm still weirdly fond of the Ovid translations.
hello, I never did mothology at school. But that's how it happend. I do think I would've enjoyed it, if I had it. Smiles
That's the sad thing. It used to be basic teaching. I think they dumbed things down in the 50's, though it could've been earlier. Anyway, glad to see these things are making a come back. I never really learned about any other cultures until maybe junior or senior year of high school and even after college, there are still some places, like Asia and the Middle East that were never even touched or that were briefly gone over for a day or two at best.
